My Week in a Nutshell

Have you been wondering exactly what I am doing in Gainesville? Or have you been considering coming to the Center for Global Action but wondering what you would be getting yourself into?

This blog is for you! I want to share a little of my day to day life looks like.

On Monday the week begins with corporate worship with all of Adventures in Missions staff. It is such a blessing to begin my work week in worship, and because of this I am actually excited for Monday mornings! Yay!

After worship, Center for Global Action apprentices grab coffee and head off to hear a guest speaker. This week we had a woman share about her experiences with creativity and how it helps her connect with God and who He created her to be.

Then it’s lunch time. After lunch we meet together and spend time working on fundraising and then have a class on soul care.

Monday evening my house does dinner together. We take turns cooking for each other and come together to share a meal together. And it is usually followed by a game of Settlers of Catan.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are the same schedule.

The mornings are spent in our tracks. Think of our track as our major. There are several options to choose from but I am doing missions track. We are covering a lot of material including reflecting on our own personalities and how we function as humans, team dynamics, and culture.

After lunch I have my apprenticeship (think internship). I am working in the Short Term Missions department. The first few weeks were spent contacting high school students who are interested in doing a mission trip with Adventures in Missions. It was fun getting to encourage them and help them in that process.

Lately I have been helping with social media for the Church to Church program.

You can see some of what I have been doing here

Wednesday mornings are different. We have two classes in the morning.

We all participate in a Professional Development course that equips us to be productive members of society through tools such as time management.

My second course is called Discover Your Calling. It involves a lot of soul-searching and self-awareness. We discuss our Meyer’s Briggs results, our strengths, our passions, and how we can use all of these things to help meet the world’s needs.

This is a quote from class this week,

“The place where God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” – Frederick Buechner

So this is a little peak into my life here in Gainesville.

I am so thankful for the experiences this time is bringing. I’m thankful for this season in this rich community, for the deep growth the Lord is bringing, and for the preparation I am gaining during this time.

Fundraising Update:

My next deadline is November 11 and I need to be fully funded!

To meet this deadline I need to raise $800.

I’m almost there, but I would love your help to meet this deadline!

Will you consider partnering with me?
