In the spirit of Thanksgiving

I shared with you during the first few weeks of being here at the Center for Global Action that one of my goals is to become more aware of the presence of God and to be more aware of the ways He blesses me and lavishes His love upon me each day and I wanted to do this through taking time to recognize the things I am thankful for and actually thank God for them.

Some days I remember and other days I get swept up in the day’s activities and I forget to take the time. But I am making progress.

And since Thanksgiving is coming up soon I want to share a few of the things I have been thankful for over the past week.

1. Sunshine! The sun decided to come out after what seemed like weeks of rain.

2. Adventures in Asia (or at least the Asian part of town)! Last weekend April and I drove to the outskirts of Atlanta on the search for Pho and bubble tea. And we also found an Asian market with lychees! It made my heart so happy and reminded me how incredibly much I miss Asia.

3. Dinner with my future Philippines team and an evening of Settlers of Catan. I’m thankful for the time spent with these friends and the memories already being made.

4. Adventures with Kaci to our favorite coffee shop to get our favorite drink, a dirty chai. Ever since my first one a year ago in Guatemala, I can’t resist a good dirty chai.

5. Laughter with my roommate, Casey. I can’t believe we’ve only been roomies for a couple of months and I refuse to think about the fact that we will only be roomies for another month.

6. Co-workers who show up with boxes on boxes of cupcakes to share with the department. Why did most of my thankful things revolve around food this week? Oops.

These are a few of the things I am thankful for.

What are some of the things you are thankful for in your life?
